Atico

Coffee Table / by

Atico is a dialogue of materials and sensations. Marble, glass, and metal intertwine in a fluid composition where solids and voids flow into one another in a continuous rhythm, suspended between transparency and substance. A small universe of materials, conceived by Migliore+Servetto and brought to life through NEUTRA’s craftsmanship, in perpetual motion.

A Continuous Flow

At the heart of Atico lies the idea of movement made tangible. A sequence of open compartments unfolds into a circular structure, creating a rhythmic frame that embraces the coffee table. Its defining elements, metal forms clad in marble, alternate between solid and void in a seamless cadence, evoking the rhythm and harmony of a musical composition.

It is a design shaped by pauses and accents, by openings carved into the material that create moments of lightness and reveal glimpses of what lies beyond. Here, marble is freed from its customary sense of weight and permanence, taking on a more fluid, dynamic expression. Beneath it, the supporting metal remains almost invisible, a quiet presence that sustains the composition without ever competing for attention.

Lightness at the Center

At the heart of the structure, emptiness finds its fullest expression. This is where glass comes into play: the tabletop spans and inhabits this suspended space, transforming the void itself into an additional container, light, transparent, and capable of displaying objects as if within a delicate glass case.

The result is a captivating interplay of depth and lightness, where the eye is never confined to the surface but is invited to move through the piece, exploring its frames, openings, and layers. Atico becomes both functional and sculptural, a design that uses transparency to challenge the perceived weight of matter and elevates a simple furnishing element into a small architectural statement.

More than a coffee table, Atico is an exploration of balance between presence and absence, solidity and transparency,a piece that reveals the expressive power of empty space.
