Strata appears to defy gravity. Carved from Carrara marble, its remarkably slender form reduces the material to the limits of what seems possible, transforming an ancient, monolithic mass into a bench of unexpected lightness.

The Strength of Nature
At once delicate and immensely strong, Strata embodies the paradox at the heart of marble itself. Carved from solid Carrara stone, its profile is refined to an extraordinary thinness, pushing the material to the very edge of its structural potential.
The result is a bench that appears to float effortlessly in space, its visual lightness seemingly at odds with the very nature of stone.
Three inclined legs support the seat, their carefully balanced geometry creating a subtle interplay of forces. Where the legs meet the top, a central void emerges, dissolving the visual weight of the composition and reinforcing the sensation of suspension.
This sculpted opening recalls the unpredictable forms created by geological erosion, where rock is gradually shaped by time and the elements. It is a quiet tribute to the natural processes that inspired the entire Erosion Collection, revealing beauty not through addition, but through the careful act of subtraction.
Shaped by Time
The name Strata refers to the layers of rock gradually formed over millennia through the silent process of sedimentation. Although carved from a single, continuous block of marble, the bench seems to carry within it the memory of those ancient geological layers, as though time itself were embedded in its form.
Placed within a contemporary interior, Strata establishes a dialogue between past and present. Its tactile presence reconnects us with the primordial origins of the material, while its sculptural precision speaks a distinctly contemporary language.
To touch Strata is to experience this duality: the firmness of stone alongside the softness of its flowing contours; the permanence of a material shaped over time, and the precision of the craftsmanship that has transformed it into a functional object.
