Savoy Heritage
For Bau, Migliore+Servetto looks to the past, specifically to the Piedmontese cabinetmaking tradition that flourished between the two World Wars, to create a storage piece that reimagines a classic expression of Italian craftsmanship through a contemporary lens. Its presence is defined by a composition of stacked volumes, evoking the sense of solidity, balance, and restraint traditionally associated with Savoy culture.
Almost like a miniature architectural structure, Bau is designed to inhabit space with quiet confidence and timeless poise. The cabinet is articulated through doors with softly rounded corners and is entirely clad in lacquered wood with a metallic finish that enhances the depth and richness of the material. The sole exception is the base, which incorporates a single marble drawer, introducing a refined note of preciousness that complements the rigor of the overall design.
Subtle recesses between the various elements create a delicate interplay of light and shadow, animating the surface and lending the piece a quiet dynamism that shifts throughout the day as the light changes.

Despite its solid presence, Bau has a discreet soul, like a private casket that protects more than it reveals.
