Daphne is a bathroom design project. The bathtub extends seamlessly to cover both horizontal and vertical surfaces, creating a continuous, fluid, and coherent narrative. STUDIO PIVA envisioned a complete solution where the bathtub is fully integrated into the architecture of the space, becoming an essential part of it.
Archaic and Architectural
Daphne, like the Greek nymph—beautiful and unattainable, connected to springs and flowing waters. Studio Piva draws inspiration from her to sculpt a marble bathtub of equal grace, elegance, and iconic presence.
Daphne originates from a spontaneous and natural phenomenon: capturing the movement of water at the precise moment a drop falls onto the liquid surface. Thus, Daphne emerges from the floor in seamless material continuity with the surrounding cladding from which it takes shape—not simply placed but generated by the space itself.
The proportions are perfectly balanced, and the craftsmanship lends softness to the profiles and edges, transforming the bathtub a contemplative work of art.
The material takes center stage here, presented in two contrasting finishes: the exterior is glossy and reflective, while the interior is matte and velvety. It is the water itself, with its primal force, that completes the design—filling the basin and creating a shifting reflection, a play of mirrors between nature and artifice.
Like a source of well-being
Daphne expands into the space with the natural flow of water. Like a fluid without boundaries, the design extends beyond the individual element, embracing floors, walls, and corners. Daphne does not merely cover horizontal surfaces; with a continuous gesture, it can extend vertically to create a fully immersive and striking total-look effect. It can even incorporate corner elements and sinks as part of a unified composition, reaching as far as wall lamps. The material adapts to the design without ever losing its expressive strength.
This is the essence of NEUTRA, which has developed a production process that is as sophisticated as it is poetic: 300 hours of mechanical work combined with 150 hours of manual craftsmanship, blending advanced technologies with meticulous artisanal finishes. Nothing is left to chance—even the waste material is transformed into new furniture pieces.
