Retrofuturism
There is something dreamlike and visionary about Lente, a lamp that appears to come from a parallel universe where the past is tinged with dreams of the future. Its aesthetic recalls a radical and spatial imagination, a design that speaks the language of retro innovation, suspended between nostalgia and avant-garde. The surface matter meets the transparency of glass whilst sinuous curves and sharp geometries evoke the experimental spirit of the 1960’s.
Migliore+Servetto capture this energy and translate it into an item that is more sculpture than lamp: a true luminous eye, poised to explore space, capture and multiply reflections through a double lens that radiates flashes in motion.
Waves of Light
Lente fascinates with its luminous essentiality, with that suspended delicacy that seems to elude matter. The molten glass, traversed by a disc of light, vibrates in concentric waves that expand along the surface like ripples in water, amplifying the perception of an almost intangible lightness. In contrast, the marble base anchors its form to the ground, offering a sense of quiet stability.
In the floor-standing version, Lente stands as a theatrical presence, almost dramatic, capturing the eye and redefining the space. In the table version, however, it becomes a discreet presence, an intimate companion capable of creating soft, collected atmospheres.
Designer interview
In the video, Ico Migliore, founder of Migliore+Servetto studio, shares the inspiration behind the Lente lamp, an icon of contemporary Italian design. Lente was born from the idea of transforming light into matter, inspired by Fresnel lenses used in lighthouses: concentric surfaces that focus and diffuse light with poetic precision. Available in two versions — table lamp and floor lamp — Lente combines handcrafted glass on exclusive molds with carefully selected marble bases, achieving a perfect balance between Italian craftsmanship and innovative lighting design.
