In the delicate encounter between light and stone, Révérence comes to life: a lamp-sculpture that celebrates the harmony of opposites. The timeless solidity of marble engages in dialogue with the intangible lightness of light. In both its table and floor versions, it reveals itself as a dynamic composition of volumes that tilt, open, and shape themselves according to the desire for light.
Balancing light and matter
A gentle bow, a gesture suspended between respect, greeting, and gratitude—this is the delicate movement that gives life to Révérence.
Inspired by Eastern culture, where every inclination of the body is an act of deep complicity, atelier oï creates a lamp that speaks the silent language of connection, of respect between object and user. Named after the French term “révérence,” meaning “bow,” this family of lamps draws both its name and concept from that gesture. With a subtle touch, the light tilts into the space, adapting to the moment’s needs: whether bright and focused or soft and enveloping.
Its essence is expressed in a dual posture: upright, like a silent presence that welcomes light into its inner space, and inclined, transforming itself into a beam of light. In this constant dialogue between luminous transparency and solid matter, a poetic vibration is born—an invitation to contemplation. Révérence is not merely a light source, but a living presence that interacts with its surroundings, transforming the perception of space into an emotional and profound experience.
In Respect of Everyday Life
Even in its structure, Révérence embodies the principle of duality: two marble elements interconnected by a refined joint available in various metal finishes. The base, a marble cylinder, seamlessly integrates with the hollowed diffuser at its center, creating a dialogue between solid and void, light and shadow.
The diffuser, easily adjustable, allows the light to be modulated according to the context, offering a constantly changing luminous experience. Two versions are available—table and floor—each designed to adapt to different spaces and atmospheres.
Poetry in balance
Within the Révérence family, a more compact model exists, offering a new approach to light and balance. Its design is based on a subtle play of positions. When upright, Révérence forms an almost spiritual alcove, capturing light in a contemplative space. When tilted, it becomes a table lamp with focused illumination, gently rocking on its base thanks to the precise study of its center of gravity. In this way, Révérence thus becomes both a decorative and functional piece.
